Frequently asked questions

What is Zelpa?

A Discord bot that summarizes what you missed — a stretch of channel conversation, or a file somebody shared — and links back to the source messages so you can check anything it says. It zips up what you missed.

What makes Zelpa different from other summarizers?

Four things, up front. Nothing is stored: your messages, files, and the summaries themselves are never written down anywhere — they exist in memory only during your run. It lives where the conversation is: inside Discord today, and soon as a private app on your own computer running the same engine. Predictable limits: a plain daily allowance with the running total printed in every summary — no surprise bills, and limits meter volume, never what's being discussed. Honest refusals: anything Zelpa can't read properly is refused in plain words instead of being processed badly in silence.

Does Zelpa store or log my messages?

No. Message text, submitted files, and summaries are never stored, logged, or kept after a run. What Zelpa does keep is small bookkeeping: how many characters were summarized, when, on which server, and what it cost — the numbers its limits run on. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

Is my content used to train AI models?

No. Zelpa sends text to its AI provider (Anthropic) only to produce your summary, and under Anthropic's published API terms, data submitted through the API is not used for training.

Which files can Zelpa summarize?

PDF files that have a real text layer, Word documents (.docx), PowerPoint decks (.pptx), and plain text, Markdown, and HTML files — up to 25 MB and 400,000 characters of extracted text. Zelpa refuses, in plain words: spreadsheets, scanned PDFs and images (there is no image-reading in Zelpa), old binary document formats (.doc, .ppt), archives, and audio or video.

How do the limits work?

On the free tier, each Discord server shares one pool of 500,000 summarized characters per day, first come, first served. Every summary footer shows how much of the pool your server has used. A run that starts while pool remains always finishes — the cap only ever stops the next run. Each channel also allows one summary run per user per hour. Limits meter volume only, never subject matter.

Can I keep my messages out of summaries?

Yes. Use Zelpa's opt-out command on that server and your messages are excluded from future summaries there. Opt back in any time. Server admins can also block Zelpa from whole channels.

What will paid plans cost?

Paid plans haven't launched yet. When they do, they'll be sold inside Discord (Premium Apps) with prices shown up front before you buy, and they'll work as bigger plain allowances — not open-ended per-token billing. The free tier stays free.

Is there a standalone app?

Zelpa Personal is in development for Windows, Mac, and Linux — the same engine on your own machine. There is deliberately no phone app: the Discord version already works on every phone. Downloads will appear on this site at launch.

Zelpa refused something or got something wrong. Who do I tell?

The Support page has the contact routes. Summaries are machine-generated — if one looks off, the source links in it are the fastest way to check.
